Wearing pantyhose in gym class
A lot of dudes wear workout tights to the gym these days. And before you turn up your nose at that, you need to get this into your head: These days, tights are as synonymous with shooting guard and quarterback as they are yoga instructor. Runners dig tights for anti-chafing, weightlifters like the shin protection and the support around the knees, and, more universally, tights are a good way to keep your gawky, winter-pale calves off of those unforgiving gym mirrors. And while the technology is still a little all over the map in terms of results, some tights made for compression may even help with post-workout recovery. Fortunately, I found a pair of tights that offer actual support while looking cool that is, extremely understated under a pair of gym shorts.

Why Men Should Embrace the Leggings-Only Look
How Men Can Wear Compression Leggings and Tights With Less Bulge
Since athleisure exploded onto the fashion scene, women have embraced form-fitting leggings as a wear-everywhere, do-everything garment. What about men? Our sweatpants slimmed down as joggers gained popularity, and the baggy basketball shorts that hid men's knees from the '90s through the late-aughts thankfully shrank as dudes realized working out wearing enough cloth for a bigtop tent is counterproductive. But we can take the movement further, guys. It's time to fully embrace leggings—without anything layered on top—when we hit the gym. Before you start shaking your fist at me and threaten to ban squats for public decency's sake like the adults in Footloose , take a minute to breathe.

It’s Time You Got a Pair of Gym Tights
It's gross having to see every part of their bodies hanging out, and showing off like that is kinda slutty. Why don't they cover up? If you heard someone say something like that about women, you'd probably condemn them as a sexist jerk, or a righteous prude — and rightly so. So why do we put up with similar arguments about men? As we've covered on Coach before, men's activewear is slowly getting smaller and tighter.
Masculinity is evolving, and our clothes are changing along with us. Take your go-to exercise gear. Once, you suited up for the gym or more recently, your home workout space or outdoor socially-distanced training spot by slipping on a pair of nondescript mesh shorts or cotton sweatpants. Now, after much encouragement and some taboo busting, sleek, tight-fitting leggings have been embraced by more men than ever. That's not to say the widespread adoption of men's tights has come without resistance, even from guys willing to take the Lycra leap.
